Mrs. O. Williams Dies August 5

Funeral services are being held for Mrs. Olaf Williams, 58, 508 Terrace, Decorah, at 2:00 p.m. at First Lutheran Church with Alvon Nelson in charge of the service and Steine Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

The body is lying in state from 12:30 until 2 at the church.

Miss Galene Nelson is serving as organist and Mrs. George Rowland is soloist. On the floral committee are Mrs. Elmer Neste, Mrs. Leon Williams, Mrs. Vincent Williams, Mrs. Olaf Fretheim, Mrs. Alvin Huseby. Pallbearers are Elmer Neste, Leon Williams, Theodore Neste, Olaf Fretheim, Alvin Huseby, and Dr. Vincent Williams.

Mrs. Williams died Monday night, Aug. 5 at Smith Memorial Hospital.

The former Cora G. Fretheim, she was born December 14, 1904 in Decorah, the daughter of Ed and Mary Fretheim. She received her education in rural schools.

July 18, 1923, she was married to Olaf Williams.

Survivors include: her husband, four children, Mrs. Carsten (Melba) Erickson, Ossian; Ervin Williams, Decorah; Richard Williams, Rochester; and Mrs. Don (Juanita) Stegen, St. Louis, Mo.; her parents, and one brother, Carl Fretheim, Ridgeway. One brother, Elmer, preceded her in death.

Rites Held Oct. 4 At First Lutheran For Olaf Williams

Olaf T. Williams, 66, Decorah retired painter, died Sunday, Oct. 2, at the Good Samaritan Home, West Union.

Funeral rites for Mr. Williams were held Tuesday, Oct. 4, at 9:30 a. m., in the First Lutheran Church, with Pastor Alvon Nelson conducting the services. Mr. Williams' body lay in state from 8:30 a. m. Tuesday until the hour for funeral services.

Pallbearers for Mr Williams were Melvin Williams, Carleton Fagerlie, Harley Fagerlie, Arnold Williams, Bernell Dehning, and Peter Diederich. Steine's Funeral Home was in charge. Burial was in the Lutheran Cemetery, Decorah.

John Turnbull was organist for the services, with hymns sung by the congregation.

Olaf T. Williams was born September 3, 1900, in Winneshiek County, the son of Sigvart and Mathilda Williams. His education was in the rural schools of Winneshiek County and Decorah Public School. He lived his entire life in Winneshiek County and Decorah.

In May, 1922, he was married in Decorah to Cora G. Fretheim. She preceded him in death Aug. 5, 1963.

To their union two sons and two daughters were born, all of whom are living: Mrs. Carsten (Melba) Erickson, Ossian; Ervin Williams, Decorah; Richard Williams, Rochester; and Mrs. Donald (Juanita) Stegen, West Monroe, La.

Mr. Williams leaves five surviving brothers and three surviving sisters: John, Calmar; Martin, Walter, George, and Alfred, all of Decorah; Mrs. Nellie Fagerlie, Mrs. Helmer Spilde, and Mrs. Myrtle Riste, all of Decorah.

Also surviving are nine grandchildren. His parents, his wife, and one brother all predeceased him. Mr. Williams was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Decorah.

Alfred Williams, Decorah resident, dies

Alfred E. Williams, a retired Decorah painter, died March 6 at Winneshiek Memorial Hospital. He was 77 years old.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 8 at 11:30 a.m., at First Lutheran Church Fellowship Room with visitation from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Pastor Paul Christenson officiated the service and organist Mrs. William Kuhlman accompanied the congregation in singing.

Burial was at the Lutheran Cemetery with the following pallbearers: Richard Williams, Mike Riste, Carleton Fagerlie, Peter Diederich, James Steine and Larry DeGreve. Steine's Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Williams was born Dec. 28, 1902 in Glenwood Township to Mr. and Mrs. Sigvort [sic] Williams. He attended Decorah Public Schools and always lived and worked in the Decorah area. He was a member of First Lutheran Church.

He is survived by one brother, George Williams, Decorah and three sisters, Mrs. Nellie Fagerlie, Mrs. Alma Spilde and Mrs Myrtle Riste, all of Decorah.

He was preceded in death by his parents and seven brothers.
